EUCHARIST ART

Disputation on the Eucharist (c. 1509–1511) by Raphael:

This masterpiece, located in the Vatican, is a visual representation of the theological concept of the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. The painting depicts prophets, apostles, and saints looking up at the descending Holy Spirit from heaven, which is focused on the consecrated Host on the altar below.

Supper at Emmaus (1601 or 1606) by Caravaggio:

Famous for its naturalism and dramatic lighting, this painting shows the moment the apostles recognize the resurrected Christ during a meal. The painting captures the shock and surprise of this "breaking of the bread" with rich, inviting colors and expressive gestures.

Part of a series on the Seven Sacraments, this painting shows Jesus at a Roman triclinium, blessing the bread and wine while his disciples look on intently. The composition and dark, atmospheric quality create a powerful sense of intimacy.
